Baroness Sayeeda Warsi Says Muslim Prejudice Seen As Normal & Acceptable

Prejudice against Muslims has “passed the dinner-table test” and become socially acceptable in the UK.

Baroness Warsi says anti-Muslim prejudice is now seen by many Britons as normal and uncontroversial.

In a “no shit sherlock” moment, Warsi is to say publicly what many Muslims privately complain about – that prejudice against them does not attract the social stigma attached to prejudice against other religious and ethnic groups.

The Akh has consistently stated that anti-Muslim hatred had become Britain’s last socially acceptable form of bigotry, with sections of the right wing, murdoch/desmond owned gutter press and columnists making a living off attacking the Muslim community.

She also warned against dividing Muslims into moderates and extremists like the RAND policy this and the previous government had adopted.

The baroness, the first Muslim woman to serve in the cabinet, will say such labels fuel misunderstanding.

Whilst The Akh has no love for the Baroness, I welcome her words and hope they translate into action.

Let’s see what the tory right make of all of this….the knives may be getting sharpened…have a read of Mehdi Hasan’s piece In defence of Baroness Warsi, The Tory right has it all wrong.
