Decoding The Wikileaks US Diplomatic Cable Dump

Decoding the Wikileaks US diplomatic cable dump & understanding what it means in real terms is going to be this weeks big news. The job of the media is not to protect the powerful from embarrassment, it is for governments – not journalists – to guard public secrets, and there is no national jeopardy in WikiLeaks’ revelations.

Anything said or done in the name of a democracy is, prima facie, of public interest. When that democracy purports to be “world policeman” – an assumption that runs ghostlike through these cables – that interest is global. The contradictions between the US’ public persona and what it says behind closed doors is finally being exposed, and that’s what they don’t want to be made public, the duplicity, double dealings and hypocrisy.

Here’s a selection of the Wikileaks:

Saudi Arabia urges US attack on Iran to stop nuclear programme

Several Arab leaders and their representatives are quoted as urging the US to carry out an attack on Iran to bring an end to its suspected nuclear weapons programme.

The Saudi ambassador to Washington, Adel al-Jubeir, recalled King Abdullah’s “frequent exhortations” to the US to attack Iran in order to bring an end to its nuclear programme.

In a report of a 2008 meeting with US General David Petraeus, Mr al-Jubeir said the king wanted the US to “to cut the head off the snake”.

King Hamad bin Isa al-Khalifa of Bahrain is reported to have told the US to stop Iran “by whatever means necessary”, while the crown prince of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Mohammad bin Zayed, told the US he believed Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was “going to take us to war”.

Yemeni President Agreed To Cover up US Attack in Yemen

US diplomats spied on UN leadership

The US has been attempting to remove highly enriched uranium from a research reactor in Pakistan since 2007.

US criticism of UK “devastating” – UK operations in Afghanistan and serious political criticisms of David Cameron.

Israel Says Turkeys Prime Minister “Simply Hates Israel”

The Akh has to agree with the sentiments that this Wikileak dump “Brings the Bastards to Their Knees” It is marvelous to see various U.S. officials reacting like pathetic, cornered rats; the Guardian story provides several examples.

If this Wikileaks release slows down the U.S. machinery of death and destruction to any appreciable extent, Assange and the others will be owed still another debt that can never be repaid. “A worldwide diplomatic crisis”!

Fantastic.

Magnificently done.

shame on the media wikileaks is doing what the media is supposed to be doing exposing the truth not covering it up….

  2. you can read the raw uneditited wiki leaks here
    http://cablegate.wikileaks.org/

only 250 of the 25k so far,
and these are hand picked to paint a particular picture.

one has to remember that these are a fraction of the leaks, which may be a fraction of all the us diplomatic cables.

It is also worth rembering that these are diplomats reporting back to the us on what they hear and think and so will often report back what the us wants to hear

  3. Ish

You are right regarding knowing the facts about the US policy and aggressions towards to the weaker countries.

We also know Saudis, UAE, Jordan, Egypt and other Arab countries’s are dishonest and they’re dictatorships.

I am an Arab and the people want to get rid of these puppets but the US stands in the way.

I don’t think they represent Sunnis but they are holding to the power.

The Saudi King and Dictator of Egypt must go.

    The time has come.

This has nothing to do with Shia and Sunni since in my generation we are brothers and sisters; Shia and Sunnis alike so what the fake kings and dictators of the so-called Arab world do, are not represent the Arab people. Arab people are under brutal and danger leaderships.

And one day people will rise and change.

No wonder why Israel is winning.
