Why did a US CIA drone kill Taliban leader days before peace talks?

It’s my assertion that whenever “The Enemy” wishes to enter peace talks, it’s “The West” that refuses terms and responds with violence. The CIA assassination of TTP leader Hakimullah Mehsud is the most recent example of this long standing policy of blatant aggression.

The Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif recently invited Hakimullah Mehsud, the leader of the Tehrik-i Taliban Pakistan for high level, direct peace talks. Days before the meeting and in direct violation of Pakistani sovereignty, the CIA assassinated Mehsud along with 25 other people in a drone bombing in the Federally Administered Tribal Area (FATA) of northern Pakistan.

Negotiating a settlement with the Taliban is the only option left to “The West”, one they openly admitted and committed to in the summer.

The context for the drone strike has to raise the question of whether John Brennan, head of the CIA, is deliberately attempting to forestall any peace in the region. Why was Hakimullah Mehsud killed when he agreed to peace talks?

This of course isn’t the first time such peace talks have been derailed by Western aggression.

The Pakistani Taliban will of course seek revenge and will bomb mainland Pakistan as a response.

So who stands to gain?

In June 2011 Radio 4′s Today Show had a very interesting  discussion with Michael Semple, the former Deputy to the EU Special Representative for Afghanistan and a key proponent of talking to the Taliban. Here’s what he had to say on the subject:

Western military theory is based primarily on Carl von Clausewitz’s teachings, what is taught in every single military academy is;

“War is not merely a political act, but also a political instrument, a continuation of political relations, a carrying out of the same by other means”

The Afghan War Logs showed the true nature of the Afghan War, one that the media doesn’t report on.

Is it democracy that keeps western nations at war? Or the armies and the vested interests now massed behind them?

President Eisenhower’s farewell message to America was a simple warning against the “disastrous rise of misplaced power” of a “military-industrial complex” with “unwarranted influence on government”.

A burgeoning defence establishment, backed by large corporate interests, would one day employ so many people as to corrupt the political system. (His original draft even referred to a “military-industrial-congressional complex”.) This lobby, said Eisenhower, could become so huge as to “endanger our liberties and democratic processes”.

I wonder what Eisenhower would make of today’s America, with a military grown from 3.5 million people to 5 million. The western nations face less of a threat to their integrity and security than ever in history, yet their defence industries cry for ever more money and ever more things to do.

The cold war strategist, George Kennan, wrote prophetically:

“Were the Soviet Union to sink tomorrow under the waters of the ocean, the American military-industrial complex would have to remain, substantially unchanged, until some other adversary could be invented.”

That adversary is Islam and virtually every single country that has a large Muslim population.

The war on terror has fulfilled this prophecy fears, as Britain has followed America’s lead and sunk into a swamp of kidnapping, torture and imprisonment without trial.

The belligerent posture of the US and Britain towards the Muslim world has fostered antagonism and moderate threats in response. The bombing of extremist targets in Pakistan is an invitation for terrorists to attack us, and then a need for defence against such attack. A self fulfilling perpetual cycle of violence.

Only last week three British Royal Marines went on trial charged with murdering an Afghan man in cold blood while in their custody.

Meanwhile, the opportunity cost of appeasing the complex is astronomical.

“Every gun that is made is a theft from those who hunger”

For each long range cruise missile and bomber built a hospital ward and a classroom in Britain doesn’t get built.

As long as bullets are fired in war, there will be a company profiting from their sale, with the invention of the global war against terrorism, it provides a blank cheque opportunity for the defence industry – the military industrial complex – the scenery maybe variable – Iraq or Afghanistan – the money source remains the constant and the end result remains constant.

Yet your average Daily Mail reading Britain will be fed the myth that “they hate us for our freedom & democracy”.

It’s because our militarised media is so strong that no one will believe that it’s possible that our armed forces are capable of committing such evil acts such as breaking into people’s homes, killing them while they slept and then burning their bodies.

Still want to know why they hate us?

It becomes hard to be taken seriously if you are talking peace, yet continue to kill the people you want to bring to the negotiating table.

War is a conduit to achieve a political objective, if you have no political objective to achieve, or the remit is changed regularly as has been the case in Afghanistan, then you are in a perpetual state of war, a never ending war, that has no end game in sight.

Violence begets violence, a deadly self-fulfilling foreign policy prophecy.

Want to know what’s really perverse & terrible?

Victims of a US drone attack Pakistan May 2012

Hillary Clinton has the audacity to talk about the “perverse and terrible” lengths that terrorists go to, while the US government sends drones to murder a mother & her two daughters as they slept.

Remind me who’s the terrorist & who’s doing the terrorising?

It’s taken the Americans twenty years to realise that they are responsible for creating the situation in Afghanistan.

Maybe it’ll take them another twenty years to work out why the rest of the world hate them.

Keep dropping bombs on people the world over and keep asking yourselves the same questions – why are they angry? why are they radicalised?

Run for your life …. Osama Bin Laden rises from the depths…..he’s Ozombie

They thought they had “deaded” him by dumping him at sea in a Muslamic burial, but little did they know that Osama Bin Laden would come back to haunt them again, be afraid, be very afraid, it’s Ozombie!

It’s been a year since the bogey man was deaded and in the time since, America and her minions have tried to select many a heir apparent to fill those shoes of the bad guy.

Whether it’s the Haqqani network or some other nameless group that’s given the spotlight, America was founded on and has always needed “The Other” to maintain it’s hegemony.

Recent talk of more Al-Qaeda attacks to mark Bin Ladens death anniversary or the omnipresent threat posed by a weakened faction have been cranked up in the last month.

President Obama’s campaign is using the Bin Laden factor to argue Mitt Romney would not have launched the raid to kill Osama bin Laden last year. The argument of course is being made to coincide with the one-year anniversary of bin Laden’s death.

The so called founding fathers of America, a bunch of extremist fanatics believed it was their “Manifest Destiny” to wipe out every single last indigenous person on the land they themselves had recently washed up upon, because they were fulfilling their religious covenant, to slay the heathen devil to claim what was their god given right.

In more recent years it was the almost sixty year long cold war threat from the Communists and now we’re eleven years into the open war against Islam.

What may seem to you as a bit of a joke by the American media machine, is in fact a calculated use of “soft power”.

The dominating themes are as old as Hollywood: America’s divine right to invade other societies, steal their history and occupy our memory, with directors and writers behaving like pimps for a world-view devoted to control and destruction.

We all grew up on the movie myth of the Wild West, which was harmless enough unless you happened to be a Native American. The formula is unchanged. Self-regarding distortions present the nobility of the American colonial aggressor as a cover for massacre.

America has lived by the idiom of “Be afraid, be very afraid”, it is the American condition. Whether it’s the Ozombie or not, America promote fear, anxiety and insecurity, to it’s citizens, to be surrounded by potential harm, enemies and evil intent.

The wolf is always at the door and as long as you can keep the people in an endless state of fear, you will keep them as unquestioning supporters of your wars of blood and treasure.

So be afraid and watch over your shoulder, the Ozombie will eventually catch you.

Osama Bin Laden Tried in Court In absentia Trial – Guilty or Not Guilty?

The Dutch television show “Devil’s Advocate”, tried Usama Bin Laden in front of a jury, with Dutch Master of Law, Gerard Spong defending. Amongst the prosecutions star witnesses were American correspondent Charles Groenhuijsen and terrorism expert Glenn Schoen.

Long before The Akh started up Hotter Than A Pile Of Curry, he would write and submit articles to a whole host of outlets, this particular one was picked up by the Muslim Public Affairs Committee back in April 2009.

I read an article on the Guardian’s CiF section which asked the question “What if Bin Laden had stood trial?” The Akh shook his head and thought Shiiii he’d covered this years ago – of course the expert white man media rules, but read on and perhaps you’ll understand why they had to “kill” of Bin Laden rather then let him face trial…if you believe he wasn’t already dead years ago;

The inabsentia trial of the most wanted man on this Earth has recently concluded, with a jury finding Usama Bin Laden NOT GUILTY of masterminding, planning, financing and heading the terrorist attacks of September 11th 2001.

The jury were instructed to decide if the acts of terror committed on 9/11 can be rightly attributed to Usama Bin Laden.

The three indictments read out in court were:

Indictment 1 – Usama Bin Laden gave the order for the attacks of September 11 2001.

Indictment 2 – Usama Bin Laden is the leader of Al-Qaeda.

Indictment 3 – Usama Bin Laden is a terrorist.

The Verdicts?

On the first indictment, the jury decided that too little hard, indisputable evidence had been produced to show that Usama Bin Laden was responsible for the September 11 attacks. NOT GUILTY

On the second indictment, the jury considered it a fact that Al-Qaeda exists, but whether Usama Bin Laden is the undisputed leader of the organisation is something the jury has doubts over. NOT GUILTY.

On the third indictment, the jury almost unanimously decided that Usama Bin Laden to be a terrorist. GUILTY.

Spong was able to convince the jury that bin Laden’s connection to Sept. 11 was a product of “Western propaganda.” The jury also ruled there was insufficient evidence to prove bin Laden was the real head of terrorist network al-Qaida. However, the jury did rule that bin Laden is a “terrorist who has misused Islam.”

However, the jury did rule that bin Laden is a “terrorist who has misused Islam.”

Although this is only a television programme, it caused somewhat of an uproar when it was aired earlier this month in the Netherlands. I remember hearing Colin Powell saying “in the near future we will be able to put out a document that will describe quite clearly the evidence that we have linking Bin Laden to this attack.”

This evidence was never produced.

In a court of law, it falls onto the accusing party to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the accused is guilty. Yet the only result we have seen was not only the war in Afghanistan, but also under a cloud of lies, the war in Iraq.

Muslims are often accused of having conspiracy theories, but there wasn’t a single Muslim in the jury that tried Bin Laden on Devil’s Advocate.

The truth about what happened on September 11 2001, is not in the public domain.

Perhaps one day all will become clear, but I don’t think we will like what we find out.

I will be writing one final piece on this subject tomorrow Insh’Allah, looking at the legacy left by Osama Bin Laden.

Job Vacancy for World’s #1 Terrorist/Bogeyman opens up as U.S. stage Osama Bin Laden’s death

The “news” of Osama Bin Laden’s “death” leaves a massive job vacancy to fill as world’s #1 terrorist. The following job criteria has already been put out:

New bogeyman/terrorist supermind needed, the ideal candidate must hate:

The west
Freedom
Democracy
The great satan America
Corrupt Muslim rulers
Western foreign policy

No previous experience is required as full training will be given, it would be advantageous if applicant can speak Arabic/Urdu/Farsi, be of an olive/brown complexion, be able to grow a beard, or have one already and look scary in a head wrap and flowing pyjamas.

AK 47 will be provided as will crew of minions and satellite phone direct to US military intelligence to liase missions with.

Written applications at the White House or the Pentagon…previous applicants need not apply.

Now that the yanks have decided OBL is “dead dead” rather than being plain old “dead”, which he has been since 2007, remember the fake Osama video that the US knocked up to show the world’s biggest threat was alive and kicking;

The world laughed so hard at the fake tape, hence his double was probably fired – yeah he’s the one you saw in your supermarket buying a can of beans with Bruce Lee, Elvis and 2Pac – and thats why we have got audio mixtape shout outs ever since – bit harder for the general population to authenticate his voice.

As I type this up, I’m sure the COINTELPRO boys are stitching together some kind of greatest hits compilation from Osama in the shape of his last mixtape shoutout to his boys or even the osama bin laden execution video.

Let’s remember when they captured Saddam they paraded him in front of the media. Even his execution was leaked.

It’s already been proved that this picture above is a fake.

The yanks military intel were undecided on whether to release a still photo of a dead bin Laden, because, get this, “It is really, really graphic”

Well obviously, the picture above is fine, infact I’m half tempted to get it framed and hang it over my fireplace.

Even his so called burial at sea “which was carried out with full Islamic rites” is even stranger…remember they buried Megatron at sea at the end of Transformers and we all remember how that turned out, we might just get a OsamaTron popping out of the sea to wreak havoc once more.

All kidding aside, serious bit now concentrate, since starting this blog, The Akh has always told you to question the official narrative, the channel it’s distributed from, who owns the channel, and whats the motivation?

The media wank fest over this has been jingoistic and nauseating, with rolling news coverage, flashy graphics and expert white man analysis all coming thick and fast.

Analyse and answer the following:

The US destroys its own illusion, it’s own creation and its own myth in osama bin laden although he’s been dead since November 2001, why have this as news now? A great way to bury bad news?

Now that the US and the coalition of the willing have succeeded in their mission to kill OBL, is there any chance of getting your troops out of our countries?

No, didn’t think so.

Only two days ago, the Afghan resistance announced its spring offensive against invading armies, the #OBL news gives US carte blanche to maim, kill & destroy. Hillary Clinton has already spoken along the lines of saying that killing one person #OBL does not result in the death of the ideology, hence US must continue in its war OF terror.

The reality is that Osama hasn’t been relevant for years, except for those who used him as an excuse for their military adventures in the war OF terror.

One of my fears is that more pressure will be applied on Pakistan after this staged media event…infact it could be used as a precursor for a full scale war.

And then there’s the case of Obama himself. Under huge pressure at home – he pulled a trick straight out of George Bush’s playbook who would always drop a new bin laden mixtape to distract the people when he was under pressure – from republicans like the bellend that is part hair cut part orange perma tan Donald Trump. Obama’s re-election campaign starts in October, if he doesn’t use this – as the president who saved America from the biggest threat ever – to get a second term then his spin doctors are clearly shit. Then again when your only competitors are Donald Trump and the pig with lipstick Sarah Palin, you could put a Democratic ribbon on a shit on a stick and win.

Infact the idiots at rupert murdoch’s fix news decided that it wasn’t Osama that had died, but President Obama had…

Freudian slip huh?

America cannot survive as a nation unless it’s Military Industrial Complex, special interest (Israeli & weapon) lobby groups and The Pentagon are not on a foreign war of choice – scaring their own people to believe that their way of life is at risk if the bad guy’s are not hunted down and killed – with a pliant media in tow repeating the lie’s told by the state department.

Don’t believe any of the lies and the COINTELPRO that america and it’s subservient lackeys around the world push out.

What prompted David Cameron’s trip to Pakistan & the ‘unbreakable’ relationship

David Cameron was in Pakistan last week, talking about the “unbreakable” relationship between the UK & Pakistan and promising trade not aid.

It wasn’t long ago that he accused Pakistan of promoting the “export of terror”.

So what prompted this visit and this complete about turn?

Joint U.S.-Pakistan intelligence operations have been halted since late January, with ties being strained thanks to massive drone strikes killing scores of civilians and the case of mercenary Raymond Davis.

This is how the special relationship between Britain & the USA works.

Obama picks up the phone and tells Dave to high tail it over to Pakistan and promise them bucket loads of cash to play ball again.

“Foreign aid is always something that’s easy to cut by a budget-tightening Congress, and foreign aid to Pakistan would be the easiest thing to cut, It’s very hard to persuade congressmen why we should be giving money to a country that supports the Afghan Taliban.”

Bruce Riedel, a former CIA Middle East expert who has advised the White House.

It’s the tried and trusted carrot and stick approach.

For all the flashy press conferences and headline making speeches, the truth has always been that all foreign aid and trade to Pakistan is corrupted.

The affluent lives of the ruling elite gets strengthened, with ordinary citizens seeing little benefit from the billions of aid dollars and suffer from regular human rights abuses, all thanks to foreign aid.

Raymond Davis, US Military Aid, Government Corruption & The “Dragon Policy” That Aims To Destroy Pakistan

CIA/Blackwater/Xe mercenary Raymond Davis was freed from his Pakistani prison yesterday, after the USA had suspended all aid to Pakistan.

According to Muhammad Afzal, a relative of one of the men murdered by Davis stated:

“Family members were told they were being taken to the police station to make statements. Instead, they were taken to a secret location and held in isolation and told that unless they signed a letter pardoning Davis, you will never see daylight.”

Let’s examine the facts:

• On 27 January 2011, three young Pakistanis were killed by US spooks in Lahore.
• The Police arrested US citizen Raymond Davis at the crime scene.
• On 6 February, the widow of Faheem, one of the victims, committed suicide.
• On 22 February, US officials confirmed that Raymond Davis worked for the CIA.

The Pakistani citizens were shot dead “because they witnessed Davis and another group of mercenaries loading their cars with machine guns and explosives, and overheard them discussing their trip into an area of Lahore known for ‘terror bombings.’

The phone found in Davis’ car, revealed that the CIA-Xe murderer made several calls to an organisation known as the ‘Tehrik-I-Taliban,’ a group linked to hundreds of bombings across Pakistan in the last 10 years.

Pakistani police also discovered photographs of sensitive military defence installations on Davis’ camera, including the Balahisar Fort, the headquarters of the paramilitary Frontier Corps in the strategically important city of Peshawar and several Pakistan Army bunkers on the border with India.

Mossad and RAW, the two principal executors of ‘the Dragon Policy’, set up four agencies in 2001 which would target Pakistan’s societal top tier, from finance to politics, religion to military.

These agencies would seduce, blackmail, train and employ young Pakistani men from different sects and serve as their handlers in carrying out terrorism across Pakistan.

Once the recruits are in the field, they are met by their handlers under the guise of ‘Al-Qaeda’ or the ‘Tehrik-I-Taliban’ and issued money, weapons and other supplies.

These meetings are then reported by the Zionist media as coordination between terror groups.

When these stooge agents are unable to secure a ‘checkout,’ or completion of their mission, the ordnance units of Mossad and RAW take to the field in collaboration with sleeper cells of Xe contractors to spread the chaos.

The blood-drenched end result is still reported by the cabalistic Zionist media as “Islamic extremism,” to the detriment of Pakistan.

Israel & India do not want a Muslim country like Pakistan to be nuclear powered.

“It is essential that we…strike and crush Pakistanis, enemies of Jews and Zionism, by all disguised and secret plans.”

David Ben Gurion, the first Israeli Prime Minister.

Janes information group, the world’s foremost source on intelligence information, reported in July 2001 that:

“The Indian spy agency RAW and the Israeli spy agency Mossad have created four new agencies to infiltrate Pakistan to target important religious and military personalities, journalists, judges, lawyers and bureaucrats. In addition, bombs would be exploded in trains, railway stations, bridges, bus stations, cinemas, hotels and mosques of rival Islamic sects to incite sectarianism.”

In February 2011, Pakistan Army Chief Ashfaq Parvez Kayani and American military top brass met at a secluded luxury beach resort in Oman to work out a deal on Davis.

On 8 March 2011, at just-international, Robert Anderson wrote an article entitled “I Had Ray Davis’s Job, in Laos 30 Years Ago. Same Cover, Same Lies‎” and is worth reading.

The plan for Pakistan is to have a pliant leadership that will kowtow to American demands and to “balkanise”, meaning to split Pakistan into sections along sectarian lines, just like they have done in Iraq.

A balkanised Pakistan would be easier to control.

Brig. Asif Haroon Raja, a defence and political analyst, wrote in the Asian Tribune, 10 August 2008, that:

“Our adversaries based in Kabul are earnestly working upon a chalked out agenda to destabilise, de-Islamise and de-nuclearise Pakistan, disintegrate or balkanise it…”

This is where the ‘probably dead CIA agent’ Osama bin Laden comes into the story.

“The frontier region is considered a likely hideout for Osama bin Laden and al-Qaeda’s number two, Ayman al-Zawahri.”

So, US troops have an excuse to enter Pakistan, just as they previously entered Afghanistan…and we all know how that has turned out.

The Pakistani Government, Military & Intel services, have to purge their ranks and focus on what is good for their own country while there is still a country to serve.

David Cameron – We let in “Muslim” crazies & didn’t wake up soon enough

WikiLeak cables show the Conservatives have been lobbied hard by Neo-Con Republicans in Washington as early as 2008 over how Britain should interact with it’s Muslim Pakistani population.

David Cameron was told that 60,000 individuals travel to Pakistan from the UK each year and that this has implications for the UK’s own significant domestic ‘terror threat’.

The US was promised before the British general election last May that a Conservative government could be tougher on Pakistan as the Tories claimed to be less dependent than Labour on domestic votes from people with Pakistani connections.

“Cameron noted that most of the approximately 1 million UK citizens of Pakistani origin (mostly Punjabis and Kashmiris) living in the UK were not pro-Taliban but had been radicalised by the Iraq war and were militant over Kashmir. The Conservative party leader agreed that HMG ‘must get UK-Pakistan relations right’ and stressed the Conservatives’ commitment to this goal should they assume power.”

Cameron went on to criticise Labour’s dealing with groups such as Hizb-ut-Tahrir and the Muslim Council of Britain.

“On the radicalisation of British Pakistanis, Cameron said the UK had ‘gotten it wrong domestically’

He argued that PM [Gordon] Brown’s policy had been too willing to engage with radicalised but non-violent Muslim groups

‘We let in some crazies, and didn’t wake up soon enough.’

What is crazy is that a Neo-Con Republican opposition, desperate to continue the murderous works of the Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld regime is effectively telling our government to jump, and our government’s response is “how high?”

Pakistan has taken the biggest losses in the so called global war of terror, a fact which is conveniently ignored whenever a finger needs to be pointed at someone to shoulder the blame for the failings of the American inspired adventure.

Pakistan Has Taken The Biggest Losses In The War Against Terror

In the three years up to November 2010, the number of civilian deaths in terrorism-related incidents in Pakistan has leapt to over 25,000. That’s more than any 9/11 & 7/7 combined and multiplied many times over, yet, “The West” keeps telling Pakistan it should do more to combat terrorism.

It is surprising how little we hear about what is happening at the moment in Pakistan from the mouths of Pakistanis. We hear brief news reports detailing terrorist attacks from the region with numbing regularity but is rare that we stop to consider what those attacks mean for those caught up in them.

Take Tahir Malik’s first hand account he says that compared to what is happening in his own country ‘people in the West know nothing about terrorism’.

Channel 4’s Dispatches City of Fear, follows the police and people of Islamabad as Pakistan’s capital battles to overcome an unprecedented wave of terrorist attacks, providing a powerful insight into what the real war on terrorism fought on the streets of the metropolis really means, with bloody and tragic consequences.

It’s available to watch for the next few days on the Dispatches website here.

No logic in taking “War of Terror” into Pakistan

Vodpod videos no longer available.

The U.S. stealth war in & against Pakistan continues to escalate, as Pakistanis attacked NATO tankers carrying fuel through their country to soldiers in Afghanistan last night, killing three people, an attack that was in retaliation for vastly increased U.S. drone strikes in Pakistan this month, which were ordered in alleged response to reports of increased Terrorist threats aimed at Europe, which, in turn, were in retaliation for the escalating wars in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

The situation in Pakistan appears to have reached a point where a positive feedback loop prompts continued escalation on both sides. The US sees drone attacks as its primary weapon and has stepped up such attacks in the belief that they will create more security for military actions in Afghanistan and disrupt planning of terrorist attacks on the West.  Instead, the attacks appear to enrage the surviving targets, recruit more to their ranks and lead to more attacks.

What a surprise:  bombing Muslims more and more causes more and more Muslims to want to bomb the countries responsible.  That, of course, has long been the perverse “logic” driving the War on Terror.  The very idea that we’re going to reduce Terrorism by more intensively bombing more Muslim countries is one of the most patently absurd, self-contradicting premises that exists.  It’s exactly like announcing that the cure for lung cancer is to quadruple the number of cigarettes one smokes each day.

That’s been the core premise (at least the stated one) of U.S.  foreign policy for the last decade:  we’re going to stop Terrorism by doing more and more of exactly the things that cause it. An article in the  Economist spelt out the ease with which drones allow the American administration to pretend to its citizens that they are not really at war with Pakistan, with the term AFPAK coined as if Afghanistan and Pakistan are one country – simply to fool the people.

On the topic of counter-productive U.S. actions in Pakistan, this Washington Post article from Friday discussed the possibility that a coup could be engineered in that country to overthrow the current Government and replace it with one that is friendlier to U.S. interests:

“U.S. officials pointed to recent signs that Pakistan’s powerful army and opposition parties are positioning themselves to install a new civilian government to replace President Asif Ali Zardari and his prime minister in the coming months. . . . U.S. officials indicated that the administration has begun to contemplate the effects of a change, engineered through Zardari’s resignation as head of his political party, the dissolution of the current coalition government, or a call for new elections under the Pakistani constitution, rather than any overt action by the military. Some suggested that a new, constitutionally-approved government that was more competent and popular, and had strong military backing, might be better positioned to support U.S. policies.”

The article does not say that the U.S. is actively involved in those efforts, but it’s very difficult to imagine American military and intelligence officials simply sitting passively by as a coup is underway in a country (like Pakistan) where America is so invested, just keeping their fingers crossed that it results in a new government “better positioned to support U.S. policies.”

Whatever else is true, it’s very easy to imagine how such a coup — resulting in a more U.S.-friendly government — will be perceived in that country and around the Muslim world.

That perception is unlikely to help reduce the threat of Terrorism.
